Share to FTP

  Previous topic Next topic

Jet Screenshot allows the user to upload images to the FTP server. By default, the program uses jetScreenshot.com as an FTP server for demo purposes. Images are stored only for 24 hours and removed when this period is over.

If you have your own FTP server, you can enter its details to Jet Screenshot and upload screen shots to your own server. If you do not have your own FTP server, we recommend you to use our own free image hosting server at my.jetScreenshot.com. Register on the website and use the Share in Web option.

2Share to FTP

To create an account:

1. Right-click the Jet Screenshot icon in the system tray.

2. Select Change Settings.

3. On the Share Options tab, select Share to FTP.

This will open the Share to FTP window where you can enter FTP server details and specify Proxy Server (if necessary). To set up FTP, you need to enter FTP server name, login, password and other details, which you can get from your FTP provider.

Additionally, you need to enter Remote Dir and HTTP Address.

Remote Dir is a target sub-folder on the server where you want to upload your files to. You need to complete this field only if you want to upload images to a sub-folder, rather than the root folder of your account on the FTP server.

Let's say, for example, your root folder is home/mysite/public_html/ftpaccounts/ and you want to upload images to the sub-folder called /myshots/, which is located at home/mysite/public_html/ftpaccounts/myshots. In this case, you need to enter /myshots/ into the Remote Dir field.

HTTP Address is the address that the browser uses to show the content of a folder where you upload images.

For example, if the folder with the path home/mysite/public_html/ftpaccounts/mysite is displayed in the browser at http://ftpaccounts.mysite.com/mysite/, then you need to enter http://ftpaccounts.mysite.com/mysite/ in the HTTP Address field. Jet Screenshot will generate a link to the uploaded snap shot by adding a filename to the HTTP Address. The generated link is copied to clipboard after the image is uploaded to the server.

4. Enter FTP details.

If you use proxy, you will also have to enter proxy settings on the same window. To set a proxy server, the user should enter proxy settings, such as server name, login, password, port and proxy type (UserSite, Site, Open, UserPass, Transparent).

5. Enter Proxy Server settings.

6. Click Test Settings to check connection to FTP.

7. Click Save.

The Share to FTP option can be set up in the Change Settings dialog. The user can set this option as a default share method, configure FTP settings and set proxy server (if necessary).
